Fuel Relief for Tradies

With fuel prices continuing to impact tradies across Australia, temporary fuel relief measures are helping reduce costs at the bowser. The fuel excise reduction is automatically applied when filling up, meaning there are no forms to complete or applications to submit — the savings are built straight into the pump price.

For businesses operating heavy vehicles, machinery or generators, additional Fuel Tax Credits may also be available depending on how the fuel is used.

Victorian 20% Rego Rebate

Victorian drivers may be eligible for a 20% rebate on vehicle registration costs as part of the state government’s cost-of-living relief measures.

Eligible vehicle owners can claim a rebate on up to two light vehicles, including:

  • utes,

  • vans,

  • cars,

  • 4WDs,

  • and motorcycles.

Unlike fuel relief, this rebate is not automatic and requires an application through Service Victoria within the eligible claim period.

For tradies running one or two work vehicles, this rebate could mean hundreds of dollars back simply for claiming something already paid.

Asset Write Off 020626.png

$20,000 Instant Asset Write-Off

The $20,000 Instant Asset Write-Off can help eligible small businesses immediately claim the cost of assets used in running their business rather than depreciating them over several years.

This may include:

  • tools,

  • trailers,

  • generators,

  • equipment,

  • computers,

  • workshop items,

  • and eligible work vehicles.

For many tradies, this can make upgrading equipment and investing back into the business more affordable while improving cash flow at tax time.

To ensure assets are recorded and depreciated correctly, it’s important to speak with your accountant or bookkeeper before lodging your tax return.
